I was very pleased to receive a good feedback from Sandra Luschwitz and UFARA in general in regards to design of the brochure and help with producing the newsletter for centre. Besides, Sandra says that I can fill free to give some another my articles to publish in the newsletter.

I feel happy that I could use my knowledge to contribute to the community life. I defiantly developed new skills and also improved my English for work place.

As a pleasant bonus to my work experience, I was invited to the Christmas party for workers and volunteers of the Unanderra Community Centre.

My tasks/roles and responsibilities

In the centre I was proposed to participate in producing the local newsletter “Centrepeace” and centre brochure.

Newsletter “Centrepeace” is produced quarterly and available at the centre and at the Unanderra library. You can also view it on the website of the centre: www.ufara.org.au

The newsletter provides information to the local community and highlights community needs of suburbs Unanderra and Figtree. I was lucky enough to write an article for our newsletter as well. It was published there in the spring issue 2012.

Also I helped Sandra to design a centre brochure. The brochure was made in “Publisher”.

Recently I started to make a Power Point for the presentation for the centre, sample of business card for workers, Invoice and letterhead template, mailing labels, magnet and T-Shirt design. Aslo I did my research in regards of companies where we can print T-Shirts and car sticker for community centre. All of this will be attached to this report in e-format.
My published article in the newsletter, Power Point presentation for the centre and  brochure  are attached as well.
At the web page of Unanderra Community Centre all readers can find issues of Centre's Newsletter.

This is my article which was published in the May issue 2012 (11th page):

Magic of Colours

An assumption that different colours have different affects on our physical and emotional condition is as old as the
pyramids.
In ancient Egypt, the patients were placed in a temple in special rooms that were painted in different vivid colours. In India, doctors wrapped patients in coloured pieces of material. Greek doctors prescribed bath painted in a particular tone of water. In China doctors used for the healing a coloured glass.
Such therapy has been very popular. It is surprising that thousands of years ago, doctors in many countries with the same diagnosis for patients prescribed the same palette. Meanwhile, modern scientists, using the latest achievements of science are trying to figure out why, and most importantly, how colour therapy is actually helpful.
Magic of colours
Why do colours have on us such a magical effect? Each of them has its own "frequency". After passing through the
visual analyser, the colour frequency waves affect certain organs, which can catch them, and glands, which control
hormones. Some colours evoke bad memories and cause negative emotions, and other colours shades, by contrast,
elevate mood and improve health.
Use the power of colours at home or work and surround yourself with a variety of plants. Flowers will inspire you in secret, filled with cheerfulness and serenity.
Absorb the energy of colour. Cut squares of thick paper cards and paint them in different colours. From time to time look at them and choose the one that you will enjoy the most. It is the energy of the colour you are lacking in order to be in harmony with the world and feel good about yourself.
Play with colours. Take paint or markers of many different colours and a sheet of paper. Unleash your imagination. Put a riot of colours on paper. With the image released if your concrete or abstract - it does not matter. It is the process of self-expression.
Go for a walks to the bush. Green has beneficial effects on vision and the nervous system. So spend more time
outdoors, especially if your eyes need a rest or you are experiencing stress.
Update your wardrobe. Choose the clothes of different colours and shades. Now you know that the bright clothing can be a good remedy for many ailments, such as the blues.
Your life will be colourful, you also get rid of many ailments, gain better health without the help of doctors and
medicine, colour therapy if you learn the basics and learn how to use the power of colour will be your  advantage.

As a part of assessment for my Diploma unit (Participate and Evaluate a Work Placement NSWTSFM402A) I was required to:

  •    Organise a work placement
  •   Participate in a work placement
  •  Evaluate this work placement

I came to the centre by myself to see the community worker Sandra Luschwitz. I asked if I could get there some communication industry work experience and got an answer that I was very welcome. To start with,  I was proposed to participate in producing the local newsletter “Centrepeace” and centre brochure. However later I found many other interesting things that I was able to contribute. All of them will be reflected and described on different pages of this blog.
